Celebrating 30,000 homes passed, connecting customers and new towns announced as we reach our first anniversary

As we reach the first anniversary of our launch, we are celebrating our achievements in the last year and looking ahead to what’s next, as our 1 Gigabit per second (1000 Mbps) broadband network rollout progresses at ‘light speed’ across the East of England, and we add an additional seven towns to our build plan.

The network now reaches more than 30,000 homes across our region and thousands of customers are able to connect in four of the towns in South Lincolnshire and West Norfolk - Stamford, Boston, Spalding and Market Deeping - where we first started building last April. With Bourne, Holbeach, King’s Lynn and Skegness planned to go live this month, thousands of customers can experience the benefits of an ultrafast internet connection 23 times faster and 5 times more reliable than standard broadband, with no lag, no buffering and no dropouts.

Our build has expanded across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex and we are currently working in 25 market towns across the region, with seven new towns being added to our build plan. The new towns are: Attleborough and Downham Market in Norfolk; Haverhill in Suffolk; Wivenhoe and Woodham Ferrers in Essex; Soham in Cambridgeshire and Oakham in Rutland.

Our Deputy Chairman, Steve Haines said: “We have literally been moving at ‘light speed’ to build our network and deliver our vision of becoming a leading regional player in the East of England. We are now connecting customers from across our first wave of towns and have created a strong regionally based team with the aim of providing a fantastic local customer experience.  We are on track to reach our target of passing 200,000 homes and businesses across South Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex by the end of this year and I am thrilled we are in such a strong position after just one year!”

We’re very excited to see what the next year will bring as we continue to expand our multi-gigabit, full fibre broadband network at light speed.
