By the end of 2025, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), will be turned off. Work’s already underway to replace it with a fibre-optic network, which will offer faster and more reliable communication. So, if you still have a regular landline, now’s the time to switch.

Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Yes. However, KIT requires a live internet connection to make an outbound call.
Please note that VoIP phone lines can be susceptible to power outages compared to traditional fixed landlines. You should therefore not depend solely on KIT for assistance in an emergency. From your initial setup, the team will capture your 999 location details for when calls are made to these services.
Calling the emergency services using the BSL relay service is possible by downloading the app or via their website. Please see their FAQ’s for more detail: https://999bsl.co.uk/faqs/

Our routers do not have an inbuilt ATA port. Instead, you will be provided with a Hub from KIT to which you can connect a telephone and which will also connect to the LightSpeed router.
VoIP compatible phones use a connector called an RJ11, rather than the one that would typically plug into an older BT Openreach socket (a 431A connector.) You will therefore require either an RJ11 to RJ11 cable, or a 431A to RJ11 adapter to connect your phone to the KIT Hub. Adapters are supplied by KIT for the Kit Hub and Kit Pro packages only. Simply unplug from the current socket your phone is connected to and plug this into the back of the KIT hub.
-
We do not recommend this. Plugging your KIT Hub into your beacon could severely impact call quality. We recommend connecting your KIT Hub directly into one of your LightSpeed Hub’s ethernet ports. If you need a handset nearer to where your beacon is located or elsewhere in the property, you’ll need to purchase twin/trio/quad DECT handset bundles. This way you can have the primary handset connected to your LightSpeed Hub and place any secondary handsets elsewhere.
-
You can use KIT to call any number. KIT is a complete replacement for your landline service. For international calls, our International Caller Bundle is available for an extra £5 per month on the KIT Hub and KIT Pro subscriptions only.
-
KIT offers the ability to make voice calls using analogue phones over the Internet via VoIP. Non-telephone devices may work with KIT when connected to the router, but we cannot guarantee support due to the wide range of possibilities.
While there are no specific exclusions for devices, it's important to carefully assess suitability, especially for alarms or emergency devices, considering the additional risk of power or Internet outages that may affect phone line usability.
-
Simply disconnect your phone from the current BT Openreach wall socket and plug it into the back of the ATA hub. We can give you a new landline number if needed, or transfer your existing one.
-
Yes you can! The transfer typically takes 5-15 working days from when the transfer request is submitted and accepted by the network providers.
-
KIT is designed to work with analogue telephone handsets. Therefore, you can use the same device that you would have with a traditional fixed telephone line without the need to purchase new equipment. However, the preferred handset types are Digital/DECT as this will allow you to utilise all the additional features that come with KIT.

Emergency Service Limitations: In the event of a power outage affecting your home or an internet service failure, please be aware that the digital voice phone service, dependent on your broadband connection, may not connect calls to emergency services telephone numbers (e.g., 999 and 112). We recommend having alternative means of communication during such circumstances.
Order Placement Eligibility: Orders for the home phone product can only be placed by existing Lightspeed customers or those who have recently ordered our service.
