Opening the Digital Den in Holbeach with LightSpeed Broadband!

We’re proud to have opening a new ‘Digital Den’ at The Holbeach Hub, Tonic Health’s new youth and community hub, creating a fun, safe space for local people to visit and enjoy access to state-of-the-art tech equipment using Gigabit internet speeds.

To encourage young people from across the town to engage with and learn about digital technology, we have donated the equipment and furnishings for the Digital Den including the latest TVs and Virtual Reality headsets, gaming consoles, laptops, cameras and green screens. We have also provided the Hub with free access to its full fibre internet service so that residents can experience broadband happiness using the ultra-fast service.

Over 2,800 properties in Holbeach can connect to our broadband network, which has symmetrical upload and download speeds of 1 Gigabit per second*. This means that working from home, streaming online entertainment, real-time gaming, uploading large files, and video calling can all take place at the same time regardless of how many devices are connected at once with no buffering, lag or dropouts.

Opened in June 2022, The Holbeach Hub creates a community hub for health and wellbeing for residents in the town. As part of its development, Tonic Health is starting a youth programme to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area. It runs Youth Clubs on Tuesday afternoons from 4-6 pm for 5-11-year-olds and Friday evenings 6-8 pm for 11-17-year-olds, along with a craft room, tuck shop, walking cricket and football.

Kyle Summers, Social Media Manager at Tonic Health, said: “We aim to improve both the physical and mental health and wellbeing of South Lincolnshire’s Communities through bringing people together, collaborative work and partnerships in shared spaces.

Thanks to LightSpeed’s generosity, we are thrilled to be opening this Digital Den in Holbeach. With some of the latest and greatest technology it will be fantastic for children and teenagers to have access to the equipment, meet their friends, play and learn how to use technology from an early age, preparing them for the digital world we live in.”

Carme Mandzij, Community Engagement Lead at LightSpeed Broadband said: “Working with Tonic Health to create such an inviting community space in Holbeach has been a pleasure, and we look forward to seeing it used. As Gigabit broadband is rolled out across the town it is great for people to learn how to use the latest technology and experience broadband happiness.

We are encouraging residents to register to be the first to hear when their home or business can access the network.”
