King’s Lynn, we’re building our full fibre broadband network in your town!

We’ve celebrated the ‘light speed’ progress of our full fibre broadband roll out in King’s Lynn this week, with the Deputy Leader of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, Councillor Graham Middleton, and Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Paul Kunes.

Our network build began in April, mobilising more than one hundred engineers across ten towns in South Lincolnshire and West Norfolk. Cllr Middleton and Cllr Kunes joined our team outside King’s Lynn train station, where they saw how we lay our high capacity fibre optic network under the streets of King’s Lynn, ahead of it being ready for residents to connect later this Summer.

Cllr Graham Middleton said: “I welcome this investment into West Norfolk, especially as it improves the infrastructure of the borough. This is something that can help businesses thrive and, as demand for faster broadband increases from residents in the future, it’s fantastic to hear that residents' needs will be catered for.”

Councillor Paul Kunes said: “I am delighted to see the Lightspeed Broadband investment coming to west Norfolk. As someone who has spent 40 years in the Telecoms industry, I understand the importance of having fibre connection directly to people’s homes and businesses. Improved connectivity will be essential as we move into a world where more people work from home.

From an environmental point of view, I was pleased to hear that the company are mandated to use electrically powered, or hybrid, vehicles wherever possible, and that charging points are being installed at the engineers' homes.”

Dave Axam, our Chief Operating Officer, commented: “We are delighted to be working closely with the team at King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council as we continue to roll out our full fibre gigabit network across the town and surrounding areas.

We’re excited that our gigabit network will soon be available in Boston, Bourne, Holbeach, Long Sutton, Market Deeping, Skegness, Sleaford, Stamford and Spalding.
