Bringing gigabit full fibre broadband to Stamford at ‘light speed’.
We celebrated the ‘light speed’ progress of our full fibre broadband network build in Stamford recently, with the Leader of South Kesteven District Council, Councillor Kelham Cooke.
Our network, which will deliver future proof, stable and reliable internet, with speeds of up to 1000 Mbps directly to thousands of homes and businesses in Stamford, Market Deeping and Bourne, will be more than 24 times faster than the average speeds currently available in these areas*.
Councillor Kelham Cooke saw some of the build work first-hand in Northfields, Stamford, where our team have been installing underground boxes - instead of green street cabinets - to house our network equipment. The discreet underground infrastructure supports a high capacity fibre optic network that will enable connections to residents’ homes later this Summer.
Homes and businesses in Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping will be able to benefit from Lightspeed’s gigabit internet speeds which will enable a super smooth connection for simultaneous professional home working, streaming online entertainment, high speed gaming, and video calling, with no buffering, no lag or drop-outs.
Councillor Kelham Cooke, Leader of South Kesteven District Council, said: “The benefits of an ultrafast broadband service cannot be over-stated, and I am delighted that access to Lightspeed Broadband’s full fibre network will be available in Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping later in the summer. The last 16 months have brought into sharp focus the importance of high quality, reliable internet connectivity and that is exactly what Lightspeed Broadband is providing.”
Dave Axam, our Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are delighted to be working closely with the team at South Kesteven District Council as we continue to roll out our full fibre gigabit network.
It’s very exciting to see our network build progressing at ‘light speed’. We have been working in Stamford at night to keep disruption to a minimum on some of the narrow streets and footpaths. We have chosen underground boxes, rather than above ground street cabinets to reduce the visual impact on the local area. These are being rolled out in all the towns across our network now ready for customers to connect from later this Summer.”
