Supporting Safer Internet Day

Here at LightSpeed we love to celebrate the endless possibilities and joy the internet can bring to every generation, and as a broadband provider, we have a duty to help our customers and their families stay safe online.

One of the ways we do this is with the internet security settings & the parental controls that are available when our LightSpeed Hubs are setup in each of our customers’ homes. Easily accessed through the Nokia app the parental controls mean certain websites or content can be blocked at a home or at device level, and schedules and time limits can also be set.

Another way we can help is to use our voice to raise awareness of national campaigns like Safer Internet Day UK 2022

Celebrated each year on 8 February, Safer Internet Day inspires a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively. Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees thousands of organisations get involved to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

From gaming and chat, to streaming and video, young people are shaping the interactive entertainment spaces they are a part of. Safer Internet Day 2022 celebrates young people’s role in creating a safer internet, whether that is whilst gaming and creating content, or interacting with their friends and peers.

We’ve shared some links below to some of their brilliant resources, all created to help you and yours stay safe online, now and in the future.
