International Women’s Day 2024

At LightSpeed, we’re cheering on our amazing female colleagues who are helping to break down stereotypes in the telecoms industry – traditionally dominated by men. We believe in promoting gender equality and creating an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, feels valued and empowered.

We aim to always #InspireInclusion, making sure everyone feels at home and free to be themselves here. So, on International Women’s Day, a big shoutout to all our wonderful team members for bringing their magic to LightSpeed every single day!

Celebrating Our Female Colleagues at LightSpeed

We interviewed some of our female colleagues to hear about their time at LightSpeed. Here’s what they had to say about their experiences:

Who are you and what role do you do?

Hi, I’m Leonie, one of the Office Managers in the head office.  We’re the go-to for all things office-related as well as being part of the HR department for all things employment!  I’m also part of the Culture & Values Group where we instil the core values of how LightSpeed operate and our expectations to each and every one of our valued employees.

No two days are ever the same, and I always feel challenged, but most importantly I like the family feel atmosphere, we’re all here to support each other and do the best we can.  It’s also vitally important for me to feel supported in my role as a mum without judgment.

What do you enjoy most about working at LightSpeed?

The people, the passion and desire everyone brings within their own roles is exceptional. You can see that each member of the LightSpeed team wants to build a legacy and have a part of the success in the business moving forward.

What advice do you have for women wanting to work in the industry?

For me, I’ve made it my business to get to know as many people and ask as many questions. It's important to be confident in this industry as a woman which historically is very male-led. Knowledge is power in any industry and certainly stands within an industry that is forever changing such as Telecoms.

Can you share a story about a woman who has inspired you in your career?

My first ever job in a contact centre was at the age of 19. My team leader for this position was a woman around my age now and she showed me how important it was to create an environment at work where respect was key to growing a team.  This respect worked both ways and in return made a strong team who worked together and also had fun.

Happy International Women’s Day from LightSpeed!
