Lincolnshire-based internet service provider, Lightspeed Broadband, has appointed Jeremy Steventon-Barnes as its Chief Technology Officer as it continues to build its team of telecom experts and roll out its Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in South Lincolnshire and West Norfolk.

With thirty years experience in the telecoms sector, Jeremy joins a highly experienced team, including Chief Executive Officer, Steve Haines; Chief Operating Officer, Dave Axam and Chief Customer Officer, Joanne King, who combined have more than 100 years experience in the telecoms industry, including with BT and TalkTalk, as well as Chief People Officer, Mara Cabrelli.

Backed by an international investment consortium, Lightspeed Broadband has brought together a team of 20 highly experienced professionals from the telecoms sector including management, network specialists, HR and marketing, and will be welcoming more to the team in the coming months. Aiming to bring a fibre optic connection directly to 100,000 homes and businesses across the East of England by 2022, Lightspeed has already deployed over one hundred engineers to start building the network in ten towns across the region, with ambitions to expand and reach 1 million homes by 2025.

Jeremy Steventon-Barnes, Chief Technology Officer, Lightspeed Broadband, said: “I am thrilled to be joining Lightspeed at such an exciting time. It’s a privilege to be part of such a brilliant and highly experienced team. We are moving at light speed and mobilising operations in South Lincolnshire and West Norfolk, and I’m looking forward to helping bring the latest full fibre technology to homes and businesses across the region and beyond.”

Steve Haines, Chief Executive Officer, Lightspeed Broadband, commented: “Jeremy’s appointment shows our continued momentum in expanding our team and bringing together the best of the industry’s expertise to achieve our ambition of improving the UK’s full fibre infrastructure and to unlock the digital and economic potential of underserved communities in the East of England.”
